Bill Clinton em 1992!
É verdade! Não foi Barack Obama. Clinton já em 1992 na Convenção Democrata tinha este discurso. Agora, Obama, por exemplo após vencer em Iowa, diz no mesmo tom:
“you came together as Democrats, Republicans and Independents to stand up and say that we are one nation; we are one people…we are not a collection of Red States and Blue States, we are the United States of America.”
O problema é que Bill Clinton não acabou com essa divisão entre os dois partidos, se alguma coisa essa divisão aumentou durante o tempo que passou na Casa Branca. Será que Obama é capaz de acabar com essa divisão? Será saudável que o faça? A única grande diferença que eu vejo agora face a 1992 é que Barack concentra muito mais do seu tempo e esforço neste tema…mas será que é suficiente?
O que faz também recordar o Discurso Inaugural de Thomas Jefferson: “we are all Federalists, we are all Republicans”. Os apelos à união e à reconciliação partidárias têm de facto uma longa tradição na política americana…
